This course will transform how you teach, work, learn, and live by showing you how to use a ‘Five Senses’ approach to how you plan, design, work, learn, and teach. What is a ‘Five Senses’ approach to teaching and learning? It is just what it sounds like- designing and creating lessons, resources, learning activities, and events that show students, families, and colleagues how to learn in more meaningful and effective ways using the senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. This approach will transform your classroom environment, help you create authentic learning activities for students and families, and show everyone you share this approach with that learning can happen everywhere and anywhere if you intentionally use your five senses to learn, work, and live.

In this course, you will research and learn how to use a ‘Five Senses’ approach when designing lessons and learning activities; collaborate with others in your school and local community to create learning activities that require intentional use of the five senses; model experiencing the world and learning using a ‘Five Senses’ approach; design and share take-home learning activities based on the five senses for students and families; create assessment and evaluation tools for the lessons and learning activities you create based on the five senses; identify ways that you can create learning activities that combine the ‘Fives Senses’ approach with culture and personal identity exploration; and build a collection of lessons, resources, and learning activities on this topic that you can share with others to inspire them to start learning more and in more meaningful ways.

This course is appropriate for educators in all content areas in grades PreK to 12.

This course is approved for NYC P/ A+ Credit: Register with the ASPDP before the start date of the course with the corresponding matching dates.
