This course provides music teachers with a variety of motivational techniques to utilize during large group rehearsals, small group lessons, and private lessons. Young students will become motivated to learn music when lessons are exciting and educational. Music teachers will research current music education topics, review motivational strategies about music concepts, and create Power Point slide shows about practice techniques to use in the classroom. Music teachers will reflect on their teaching and gain ideas on how to motivate and inspire their students to excel in music. Teachers will share and reflect upon their motivational strategies and learn new ways to motivate their students. This course is appropriate for the Arts grades K-12. A teacher’s job description is not only to teach but to inspire and motivate their students to succeed!
This course addresses the Common Core Standards by providing teachers with ways to implement the standards in their classroom. Teachers will create assignments that have students self-assess and evaluate their individual performance and group performance. Teachers will design goal sheet assignments for their students. Both assignments will aid in developing literacy skills specific to music and in addition to what they learn in their English classes. Teachers will reflect upon articles that discuss the strong connections between music and various areas of study. Teachers will research the audition process in professional orchestras to give students a better understanding about a professional music career or college study. This course is appropriate for the Arts grades K-12. A teacher’s job description is not only to teach but to inspire and motivate their students to succeed!
