3 Inservice Credits/ 45 Hours Instructor: L. Squires, July 15-August 15
Have you taken a look recently at your students snacks or lunches? These are great times to have discussions with them about healthy choices. If they eat better they will be focused in your class and have more energy to learn. In this course you will explore starting a classroom garden, using a classroom compost as an incentive to get students to bring in items for snacks that they can contribute to the compost. You will also learn about whether or not a snack is truly healthy or not. Packaging can be extremely deceiving these days. You will also explore sites and create activities to enhance your curriculum.
This course is relevant to all who work in schools with children ages in both regular and special education settings. This course has been designed for all school administrators, regular and special education teachers (grades K-12 and ages 5 to 21), special area teachers (gym, art, music, technology) school psychologists, school counselors, guidance counselors, social workers, speech and language therapists or speech pathologists and occupational or physical therapists.
