Countless books and articles written recently have reflected on the inability of young people today to succeed at basic tasks. This failure to thrive in college and in life stems from a lack of knowledge of basic life skills. This course gives educators the opportunity to incorporate essential life skills into their curriculum seamlessly and creatively. You will create lessons that use practical everyday skills and activities in the context of your subject area. Your students will enjoy balancing checkbooks; writing character resumes; completing job applications for fictional positions, and planning special events for themselves or fictional characters. Their parents will thank you for helping to better prepare their child for the world beyond elementary and secondary school. You will be exposed to a wealth of online and authentic resources that can help you teach these essential life skills. This course is suitable for teachers of any subject area, Regular or Special Education, Occupational Therapists,, PreK-12.
