Students who take this course will be guided through the process of creating the perfect mini lesson.  Research has shown that making a mini lesson meaningful and engaging is important to a child’s educational growth. Mini lessons are used in the classroom at the start of a new concept to allow students to focus on one skill at a time, so lessons are purposeful and less overwhelming.  Students in this course will have an opportunity to research different articles and videos about creating mini lessons with variety, comparing current practice to encourage improvement, execution and timing of your mini lesson, and creating a mini lesson with impact.  Student’s in the course will also learn how to use technology, activities, books, games, kinesthetic activities, videos, and hands-on practices to create variety in a mini lesson.   Student’s will come out of the course with techniques and strategies to improve on their current skill base.  This includes working with students with IEP’s, 504’s, and behavior plans to adapt mini lessons.  At the end of the course, student’s will create a mini-lesson that they can utilize in their classroom based on the course objectives.   All students taking the course will work closely with the instructor to reflect and develop strategies to create the perfect mini lesson.  Google Meet availability is also an option.

This course is relevant to all who work in schools with children ages in both regular and special education settings.
