Formative assessment is a wide variety of methods that educators use during the course of a lesson in order to conduct an in-process evaluation of students understanding of a lesson, monitor comprehension, and learning needs. This class will discuss the difference between a formative and summative assessment and provide research based formative assessment strategies that can be implemented immediately within a large or small classroom setting. The use of technology as a formative assessment will also be discussed in addition to more traditional methods. All students will contribute to a class portfolio of ideas and lessons that they can use immediately within their own classroom. This class is appropriate for teacher’s k-12, Special Education, Speech Therapists.
