Students who take this course will be introduced to the practice of gratitude and gratitude journals.  Research has shown that gratitude journals can have a significant impact in children and adults with overall mental well-being. Students in this course will have an opportunity to research a variety of different articles about gratitude, journaling, the benefits to students, and how to implement this into the classroom.  Students in the course will also learn how to create a gratitude journal for themselves in their personal life as a teacher and an individual.   Students will come out of the course with techniques and strategies to implement this form of positive, mindful practice into their classrooms and everyday life.  This includes working with students with IEP’s, 504’s, and behavior plans.  Student’s will create a mini-lesson that they can utilize in their classroom to introduce, teach, and reinforce gratitude and journaling.   All students taking the course will work closely with the instructor to reflect and develop strategies into their daily life as an educator.

This course is relevant to all who work in schools with children ages in both regular and special education settings.
